What should I expect during my treatment?
An intake interview about all aspects of your health condition begins each treatment (the first intake will be longer and most thorough). Soon afterwards, the practitioner will check your tongue and pulse for diagnostic purposes. Other diagnostic exams may be used.
The treatment will be catered to your condition, which may entail acupuncture needling, cupping, guasha, tuina and/or herbal remedies. The most commonly used acupuncture points are located below the elbows and knees and on the back. Therefore, we recommend that you wear loose clothing for the treatments.
After the practitioner finishes needling, you will relax on the table while the needles are retained for 15 to 30 minutes.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Generally speaking, the prickly feeling from needle insertions disappears almost immediately. In certain areas of the body, the practitioner may choose to induce a strong sensation afterwards. This sensation could be commonly described as heavy, achy, expanding, and/or radiating. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, these sensations from acupuncture points often signify the presence of a therapeutic effect. If they are intolerable, please inform the practitioner to lessen the sensations.
Is acupuncture safe?
Properly administered by professionals, acupuncture is statistically one of the safest medical procedures known. Rarely side effects occur after treatments; if they do occur, they are usually slight bruising or temporary discomfort in local areas. Intoxication, excessive hunger or fatigue may exacerbate fainting during the treatment.
What should I expect after my treatments?
The healing process depends mainly on your initial condition, the treatment selection of the practitioner, and your compliance to the practitioner's suggestions.
How long will it take for my condition(s) to improve?
Some clients experience near-miraculous transformations, whereas some may feel little relief in the beginning.
However, it is strongly recommended that regular treatments be sustained for at least 2-3 months in order to truly assess the level of recovery. Please remember that some chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and sometimes insomnia took years to develop. In order for us to balance the body back to normal may take significant time and patience.
Is acupuncture a placebo?
No. Even a skeptic can benefit from acupuncture. Studies have already proven the efficacy of this ancient method. All that is left to do is to try it out.
What is the importance of using herbs with acupuncture?
As great as acupuncture may be, many times using herbs may help heal the body quicker than relying on just needling. Acupuncture generally works from the external inward, whereas herbs supplement from the inside outward. Therefore, for many issues, it is best to couple the two.

What is the significance of the Black Turtle?
In ancient China, the Black Turtle of the North (depicted as a snake coiling around a turtle) symbolised longevity. People during the Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) often wore jade pendants in the shape of tortoises to ward off evil spirits and to welcome a long life. Furthermore, this mythological symbol in the Chinese culture represents the mountain that shields against cold winds from the north. In short, it prevents and protects.
That is the vision of our clinic.
